Video calls in the classroom

How Classario's built-in video works, what to do about camera and microphone permissions, and when to use the connection test.

Classario has its own video calling built into the classroom. There is no Zoom link to send, no app to install and no meeting ID — opening the lesson is joining the call.

Joining

Open the lesson from your calendar. The call panel connects on its own. The first time, your browser asks for permission to use the camera and microphone — you must allow these, or your student will see and hear nothing.

Controls sit on the call panel itself: mute, camera on/off, screen share, and leave. On a phone, use the Call tab.

Who can join

Everyone invited to the lesson, plus anyone you give the lesson link to. See Lesson links and guest access before sharing one.

If the call will not connect

  1. Check the browser's address bar for a blocked-camera icon and allow access.
  2. Close other apps holding the camera (another meeting tool, for instance).
  3. Reload the lesson page.
  4. Open /diag — Classario's connection self-test. It reports whether your network can reach Classario and whether video can get through over plain UDP or has to fall back to TLS.

Strict school or corporate firewalls sometimes block the UDP traffic video uses. The /diag page is how you find out; the troubleshooting article explains what its results mean.
