Filling in the Generate lesson form, what each field changes, and what to check in the draft that comes back.
Generate it
- Press Generate lesson in the sidebar, or Create with Cleo AI in the Library.
- What's your subject? — English, Maths, Piano. Pre-filled from your profile if you set one at sign-up.
- What's your topic? — the lesson's subject matter: "Means of transport", "Triangles", "Form elements".
- What's your focus? — the specific thing to practise: "Past Simple", "Business emails", "Climate change".
- Level and Duration — these shape how much Cleo writes and how hard it is.
- Leave Generate homework section ticked to get homework alongside the lesson.
- Press Generate with Cleo AI and wait a few moments.
What comes back
A complete material in your Library: sections with a warm-up, explanations, interactive exercises, and a homework section if you asked for one, with images already in place. It opens in the editor, where every part is editable exactly like something you wrote yourself.
Topic and focus do different jobs
Topic is what the lesson is about; focus is what students should get better at. "Travel" plus "Past Simple" gives a travel lesson that drills the past tense. Leaving focus empty gives a more general lesson.
Check before you teach
- Read the explanations — is the level right for this student?
- Check the answer keys on every exercise.
- Look at the images; swap any that do not fit.
- Trim. A generated lesson is often slightly too long for the slot.
