Creating and editing a material

The lesson editor: sections, elements, the Lesson and Homework tabs, autosave and the element menu.

A material is one lesson's content. Open one from the Library, or press Add material to start a new one.

The layout

  • Material Name at the top left — rename it any time.
  • Material Plan — the list of sections, with a count of elements in each. Drag to reorder, or use Move Up / Move Down.
  • The main panel — the section you are editing, element by element.
  • Lesson and Homework tabs at the top of the main panel.

Sections

Sections are the parts of your lesson — warm-up, presentation, practice. In the classroom they become the buttons across the top of the material, so you can jump straight to the part you want. Add new section at the bottom of the plan adds one.

Elements

Add element at the foot of a section opens the picker. Each element then has its own ⋮ menu:

  • Rename — the title students see above it.
  • Move up / Move down.
  • Move to Homework — send this exercise to the homework tab.
  • Reset answers — clear what students have entered.
  • Delete.

The Homework tab

Anything you put on the Homework tab stays hidden during the lesson and becomes the basis of an assignment afterwards. Build the homework while you build the lesson and assigning it later takes two clicks.

Saving

There is no save button. The editor writes as you work and shows Saved, Saving…, or — if something went wrong — Not saved, reload the page. If two people edit the same material at once, Classario refuses to let one silently overwrite the other.

Preview

The editor shows exercises exactly as students see them, with a note reminding you that answers you type in preview are not saved.

Straight to the calendar

Schedule lesson at the top of the editor creates a lesson with this material already attached.
