Assigning students to tutors
How a tutor's student list is decided, and how to hand a lesson to a particular member of staff.
In a school with several tutors, each tutor sees the students assigned to them, not the whole roll. This is what an admin sets up.
Assigning a student
Open the student from the Students page and set the tutors they are linked to. A student can be linked to more than one tutor — a main teacher and a conversation partner, say.
A tutor who says "I can't see my student" almost always needs this link; it takes one action on your side.
Assigning a lesson
The lesson dialog has a Tutor field. As an owner or admin you can create a lesson and hand it to any member of staff — it appears on their calendar and they teach it.
On the calendar, the tutor filter switches between All tutors and one person, so you can plan around somebody's existing timetable before you schedule.
Groups can have a tutor too
When you create a student group you can name its Tutor. Handy when a class always belongs to the same teacher.
Everyone shares the library
Student lists are scoped per tutor, but materials are not: every member of staff can open and edit every course and material in the school. That is deliberate — it is what makes a shared library worth having.
Tutors can add students themselves. Only owners and admins can remove a member from the school.
